The Sims 5: New details on Video

Small playtests for Project Rene, which may end up being named The Sims 5, have begun. The Sims franchise will showcase upcoming features in a new video series called “Behind The Sims,” which will include discussions about Project Rene, as well as new features for The Sims 4 and mobile titles.

During the video, Mersea, a member of the Sims Team, interviewed Grant Rodiek, the game director for Project Rene. He emphasized that these playtests are only the beginning of a long journey, and that small groups of people will be shown small parts of the game during upcoming playtests.

During the playtest, the focus was on furniture customization and buy mode, exploring features like copying styles, changing materials, patterns, or sizes, and rotating a room’s furniture simultaneously. This content was tested on both PC and mobile, and creations made on one platform can be downloaded and used on the other.

The interview also touched on The Sims 5’s multiplayer features, emphasizing that players can still expect a fully-featured single-player experience. Rodiek clarified that The Sims 5 is not an MMO, but players can invite others to join them in the game.

In The Sims 4, infants are finally being added to the game on March 14, with new interactions and cute-themed traits. The trailer also teased a new expansion featuring The Michaelsons family, with more information coming on February 2.

Meanwhile, in The Sims Mobile, players can receive a free Disco Plumbob by logging in, and the game will celebrate its fifth anniversary with a Treasure Hunt. Additionally, the upcoming Sims Festival will feature items inspired by Korean fashion and architecture.
