The Sims 5: All-new expansion pack is a likely plan for the next game

Another year has passed without any mention of “The Sims 5” on the part of EA and Maxis. But that has not stopped fans from expecting the arrival of the next life simulation game from these video game companies.

Despite not having any official word on “The Sims 5,” there are other ways that fans can build their expectations in terms of the gameplay content that the developers could be planning for the next installment. And there might be reasons to hope that it will have an expansion pack with an all-new theme.

‘The Sims 5’ possible gameplay updates
In Maxis’ monthly stream last month, developers Dave Miotke and Michael Duke gave away some interesting hints at the new content arriving for TS4 this year. Without saying anything specific, Miotke maintained that they have been working on gameplay additions that they guarantee will surprise the fans.

“I think it’s going to be a very interesting upcoming year full of unexpected turns and twists, and it’s going to be a lot of fun,” he added. Building up the excitement further, Duke also expressed his confidence that fans may no longer be able to guess the “couple of packs” Maxis will reveal for TS4 in 2020.

Every installment of “The Sims” had familiar expansion packs because they feature recurring themes such as University, Seasons, Pets, Parenthood, and Careers, among others. Maxis has been successful in developing these expansion packs so as not to seem totally repetitive while also adding a few new expansions in every title. Since TS4 has been a huge success for EA and Maxis, it only makes sense for them to double the effort in the development of “The Sims 5” by pushing more never-heard-before contents.

‘The Sims 5’: Release date in 2020 still unlikely
As Duke mentioned last month, they still have at least two more packs to release for TS4. It is unclear whether those are expansions, game packs, or stuff packs. But that suggests a 2020 release date for “The Sims 5” is still very unlikely. The best that fans could hope for this year is for EA to announce the next game.
